In the game last night, ahead 14-3 with about 4:00 to play in the 3rd quarter, OSU scores a TD to take a 20-3 lead. Naturally, you kick the extra point, right? No. Smith goes for two, and the snap from the gun comes in too hot. The QB apparently hasn't been taught to just fall on the thing and give it up. He bobbles it, Colorado scoops and goes 88 yards to cut the lead to 20-5. So a three score lead is down to a two-score lead.

Okay, all coaches make blunders and this was a rare occurrence. But if the idea was to go up 19 to make the three scores as difficult as possible, why doesn't the same argument apply to going up by 18 to make it more difficult than 17?

On the plus side, OSU won on the road and is having a much better season than MSU ....
