I am not defending the trade of Doug Fister last year, but, Dave Dombrowski using Robbie Ray, who he acquired in the Fister deal, to acquire Shane Greene, I believe changes the complexion of that deal in retrospect.
Now, I understand we are only two weeks into the season, but, who would trade Shane Greene for Doug Fister right now? Greene is 5 years younger than Fister and makes much less at this point in their careers. Greene appears to have a higher ceiling than Fister, although it is still too early to reach that conclusion.
If "alls well that ends well," will the Fister trade be looked at as ultimately successful, if Greene develops into the pitcher he appears to be or will the Fister deal always be considered one of the worst deals in Tigers history?
