Hall of Famer’ Pat Foley’s contract was not renewed with The Blackhawks as it was believed that he wanted to ensure that Eddie Olczyk, his color commentator partner, had a spot carved out for him (i.e., he lost the leverage play). And subsequently Olczyk will be doing Kraken games instead next year
Last night, the Cubs were giving him a well deserved send off by allowing him to do the play by play and he reminisced about his time at MSU and what he believed was a mistake at the time for Gibson to choose baseball over football. And obviously how he was wrong. Foley called both hockey and baseball for the Spartans. And he recalled how dominant Gibson strength and speed over cornerbacks was that he would be such a mismatch in the NFL. Jim Deshaies tried to interject that Ricky Leach was also a two way player for MSU, but Foley quickly corrected that by referring to “the other school in the state”
