I didn't use thread view much, although at times I went back to it to see who was replying to whom. I understand why some threads are worth a skip and oftentimes I glance through what I'd politely call filler. Some posters I'd skip over completely.
The main advantage to thread view is filtering out the people. While it's not perfect, there is a workable plan B.
1. Move your mouse to your screename in the upper right corner. A panel opens up
2. Click on "People you Follow" Add those you wish to follow. Names I have there to start are Comp, Paul K, Matt Dorsey, Rico Beard, Mike1182, Michigan State University, and Amie.
3. Click on people your ignore in that same panel and add those like me who can be annoying at times.
4. Click on "Your news feed" and you'll find the content from those you're following.
It's not perfect, but it's something that can be used and adjusted accordingly.
