I'll take it a step farther.
Now that everyone (including Meyer) knows that Dantonio is serious about pulling a scholarship offer if a player seriously looks elsewhere, would Urban Meyer mess with MSU and force MSU's hand with this stuff, with no intention of offering a player?
Unless I'm wrong it looks like Meyer is not going to offer Cupp. So Cupp essentially caused MSU to lose a recruit by getting a committed Spartan to visit, setting off a series of events that resulted in MSU cutting ties with the former commitment. Of course MSU had a Plan A-2 or Plan B-plus at the ready as a replacement. Maybe MSU wouldn't make this move if they didn't have a strong back-up plan.
But my point is, would Meyer in the future mess with MSU's commitment list by inviting players to visit and workout with no intention of offering them, just to see if they can put a dent in MSU's commitment list?
