According to ESPN's Pete Thamel, Michigan State is set to hire Oregon State tight ends coach Jon Boyer as its quarterbacks coach.

Boyer had been at Oregon State since 2018, and he was appointed as tight ends coach on Dec. 12, 2023. He spent several seasons working under Jonathan Smith while there. Before that, he spent six seasons as offensive coordinator at Northern Colorado.

I am unsure, but my guess is this means that current offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Brian Lindgren is just going to focus on OC/play-calling duties and no longer work as closely with the QBs. I am also unsure how this affects offensive analyst Aaron Pflugrad, who also works closely with quarterbacks.

Michigan State had a vacancy on its staff after cornerbacks coach Demetrice Martin left for a job at UCLA. If Boyer is indeed joining the staff, I am curious if secondary coach Blue Adams will coach both safeties and cornerbacks moving forward.

We will update as we learn more.

Edit: We can now confirm this.
