Last night I watched Tyler Wilson of Utah go out with what looked like a broken collarbone after a long run. I just watch Malik Zaire's ankle break in two on a running play. In both instances, the sideline looked shocked and there appeared to be a big drop-off to the back-up QB.

Granted, an effective running QB can make certain offenses impossible to stop, you are gambling the house away by running the QB like that unless you have a stable like OSU.

Not that QBs who just stay in the pocket can't get hurt, and not that running QBs always get hurt, but the injury odds increase significantly with running him.

The season is long and getting longer with Championship Games and Playoffs. These "modern" coaches think they are so much smarter than guys like Dantonio by implementing a QB running game, but they are flirting with disaster far too often.

And I know we went through it with Drew Stanton, but those days of MSU football are so blanked out of my memory due to all the drinking.
