My current take on UM:
* Defense is average. Gary is nowhere near the size they claim and he's good, but not even close to great. Our walk on J. Conklin would eat that 5* for breakfast.He is not a huge factor. Hurst? He's the real deal. Their secondary is very vulnerable as they are very young. Keep this team on the field with sustained drives and the youth and lack of depth will be exposed big time.
* offense is NOT top 25 material. Looking just at star rankings and they should have a top 5 OL on the field every year. They don't. Running backs are MAC level and Speight is as well. Thier most potent weapon is thier kicker - he's excellent. They are ranked 117th on offensive yards per GAME! Let that sink in.
* Coaching is very inconsistent. Harbaugh has more goodwill with fans, sports writers, and talking heads than all coaches in FBS combined. So far, he has not earned it. See punt, coverage fiasco of the miracle play, 2 3rd place finishes, Red Zone difficulties and QB production (his specialty)
The Winged helmets, 1900's championships and Shit house worth probably 3-5 extra ranking spots, Harbaugh an extra 5 spots, and their marketing prowess another 2-3 spots. Viola, you have a team ranked 10-13 spots higher than they deserve.
Water finds it's own level, and so does mediocre no matter how much lipstick is applied.
