My buddy is in Vegas right now and the over/under for MSU wins next season is 8. I told him to put 300 on the over and it turns out the payout is +115, meaning that I stand to win 115 for each hundred bet. If I understand the way this stuff works, it means that more people are betting the under than the over. I have to say that the whole situation dumbfounds me. Barring some serious injuries I don't see any way that we lose 5 or more games this year.
My question to the board is this: What am I missing? What does Vegas know that I don't? Are there people here who think the under was the better bet, and if so, why? Maybe I've been drinking too much koolaid, but I think I just got the lock of the year and I'm kicking myself because I didn't bet more! Seriously people, am I missing something?
FWIW, the only place he found that was offering this bet was the Golden Nugget. He bet 300 for me and another 300 for himself, and when he tried to place it the cashier had to get approval from his supervisor before he could accept it.
