Howard

Walked into the bank yesterday. One of the tellers is a big M fan. Not a jerk at all. Good kid. He said he wanted to talk to me. So we talked, he spoke about how disappointed he was in MSU and the players involved in the tunnel incident, I commented that I too was also disappointed. He then asked how long the players should be suspended. I asked him what the name of their Bball coach was (I knew, it was just for effect). He said Howard. My reply was our players should receive something similar to what he received. it’s amazing how quickly Michigan fans forget that their coach, an adult, assaulted a Wisconsin coach after a game on TV. Howard punched the dude!!!! Howard should have been fired.

Could you imagine the response if Tucker had punched a M assistant coach after that game!! The anger would have been biblical and Howard gets 5 games.

I have started to call down

First things first.

Fact 1 ) Media bias in favor of um has been in effect for many many years

Fact 2 ) Some of the MSU players were wrong with their behavior

Fact 3) There has been a great over reaction to two 15 second scuffles egged on by Harbaugh calling for criminal charges.

The whole situation is Not Fair, but sometimes life isn't fair.

Compare the Juwan Howard event with this event. In both case players threw punches and shoves which was triggered by someone mouthing off. Howard went after the Wisconsin Coach for saying something, resulting in him throwing a punch which began the melee. Clearly the um players said something or even threw the first punch or shove which led to the skirmish.

Some um players were suspended one game.

If there was fairness the punishment given to Krump for swinging his helmet in the fight should be different from for example Windmon who appeared to try and stop the skirmish. Instead it appears that if an MSU player was involved in any way, they will be suspended indefinitely. This is not fair.

2018 wasn't fair either, whereas MSU got punished with a fine and nothing happened to Devin Bush who vandalized the field.

I still don't understand why MSU buried the "trashing of the locker room story.

In 2009 MSU had the Rather Hall debacle, and recovered from multiple dismissals & suspensions to go on to the greatest 6 year stretch MSU has seen in decades. 2010 - 2015 (65-16 record)

Tucker as a leader will move on past this and lead us to bigger and better seasons. He had the correct processes and minds set to be successful.

Bottom line the 2022 season will look very similar to 2016 in the record books.

This will only add more fuel for the hatred in this rivalry like other events going back over 100 years.

I will always hate um and root against them in every sporting event they play in.

Any comments?

Very good Couch article (imo)

- Congrats CMT and Haller for swift action
- Highlights the leadership of X
- Not so subtlely calls out Harbaugh for fanning the flames

OFF TOPIC: Pistons and 2023 draft

Pistons are likable with a lot of young talent, especially Cade. They are losing so much right now they may put themselves out of the playoff race-
A very hard thing to do with 10 teams getting in. It is obviously harder to get a prime free agent to Detroit than other more attractive cities in this country. The question is, with perhaps the biggest tanking season we have ever seen coming up in the spring, Do the Pistons take their shot In this I fight to the bottom to have
Any chance at getting wembanyama? If they got lucky enough in the draft to get him, it would put them in an amazing position for the future. I just don’t think they are bad enough to be able to tank that much-without a major injury which we don’t want to see.

Did Harbaugh intentionally send those players into the tunnel or not?

  • Harbaugh specifically sent those players into the tunnel to cause problems

  • Harbaugh did not specifically send them in the tunnel, but does encourage that type of behavior

  • Harbaugh specifically told his players not enter the tunnel, and his players defied him

I've been wrestling with this a little. Red Rover was obviously specifically orchestrated. Is it a coincidence that it was a couple of scrubs that were the ones who went into the tunnel with the MSU players? Was it also specifically orchestrated?

Tunnelgate

Eventually this will blow over and add fuel to the rivalry.

Just like the incidents of

2007 - Little Brother , Pride comes before the fall, it will never be over it is just getting started.

2018 The whole Devin Bush incident with our team walking the field. MSU came out of that whole mess looking like the bad guy, getting fined by the B10. Whereas um skated by without anything even though Bush vandalized our field on film.

2022 - Tunnelgate

Spartans' suspended players let down their proud coach

Here's another layer to the Michigan tunnel fiasco to peel back. The Spartans' suspended players let down their proud coach. Do they know their school's history?

An interesting idea about NIL money

A poster on another board asked if coaches should be paid less, so NIL money could be freed up for the top recruits?

I guess his point here is, where is the money better spent?

The guy specifically mentioned Tucker's contract. Say it was $50,000,000 over ten years instead of $95,000,000. That's an extra $4,500,000/yr over and above what the NIL number is right now. A $50,000,000 head coach's contact would still get the attention of about 80% of the power 5 coaches and 100% of the non-Power 5 coaches. In other words, a lot of good options.

I think this makes a lot of sense. Obviously, it'll be several years before MSU can consider this, but I wonder if some other programs will go this route.

The video of Green spewing racial slurs after the incident

Question for the attorneys on the board.

Having watched him repeatedly call our players the N word immediately after the altercation, wouldn’t UM legally/logically want to minimize the exposure of this incident? The video will surely become evidence as the civil/criminal proceedings progress.

IMHO, his behavior results in getting beat numerous times in the 2020 And 2021 games.
