Michigan State golfer Ashton McCulloch will compete in the U.S. Open that takes place June 13-16 at the Pinehurst Resort and Country Club in North Carolina.

OTHER SCHOOLS: Terrance Shannon NOT GUILTY

I haven't followed this story super closely but interesting to see that he's been found not guilty. Reading the news articles on the trial, the evidence seems extremely weak, and I'm curious as to how the prosecutors actually felt like they could win this case. For context, there's a pretty extensive review process, especially for sex crimes, and the prosecutors base their charging decisions on a reasonable likelihood of conviction. In my vast experience, there are many crimes that go unpunished because the evidence is lacking, in one way or another. Here, she's in a crowded bar and claims that Shannon touched her buttocks and genitalia. Then she picked him out of the Illinois basketball roster. Our old friend Hunter Dickinson testified for the defense. I want to learn more about the evidence because this is a head scratcher. Good for Shannon for fighting to be able to keep playing.

OFF TOPIC: Peacock offering a deal...

I don't work for NBC/Peacock nor do I want streaming services to succeed because I love cable.

HOWEVER, I am looking out for the best interest of our SI subscribers.

Peacock is now offering a deal for new customers. You can get it for a full year for $19.99.

The normal monthly price is $5.99, so this is a pretty good deal.

Peacock will have Big Ten men's and women's basketball and football games this season once again, so taking advantage of this offer will get you through those seasons and then some.

If you are eventually going to get Peacock for football/hoops season, might as well just get it now.

NEW COMMIT: 2025 OL Drew Nichols commits to Michigan State: 'It just feels like home'

Michigan State hosted seven class of 2025 prospects in East Lansing this past weekend for official visits — three uncommitted recruits and four current commits. Now, one of those uncommitted prospects entering the weekend has joined the fold as well, as three-star California offensive lineman Drew Nichols out of Murrieta Valley High School has become the latest recruit to pledge to the Spartans.

Nichols announced his commitment to the Spartans on Monday.

The new Michigan State staff led by head coach Jonathan Smith has brought its West Coast ties in Mid-Michigan, as Nichols felt comfortable pledging to MSU following a strong visit.

"MSU’s program has the history, coaching and support it needs to grow rapidly in these next few years," Nichols said. "I want to be a part of it. The school’s football culture is also elite. Overall, it just feels like home."

OFF TOPIC: Sports Rarity happening this weekend in MLB

Yankee Stadium being completely taken over by Dodgers fans. Interesting site to see. Yesterday in Manhattan, we saw Dodgers jerseys everywhere. Yankee Stadium felt, for the first time, like a bobo small market MLB team when opposing fanbases completely take over the stadium. Shocking to see. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5551329/2024/06/09/dodgers-fans-yankee-stadium/

OTHER SCHOOLS: DT Simeon Barrow, who left MSU to go to the Miami for a bigger payday, was on his way out to Missouri-->>and now back at Miami LOL

DT Simeon Barrow, who left MSU to go to the Miami Hurricanes for a bigger payday, maybe on his way out and heading to Missouri according to Hurricane reports.

Barrow was enrolled in summer conditioning with Miami. If he chose to leave Miami, he would have to walk on somewhere else. It was also reported that Barrow told other Miami players he was considering leaving, and some others thought he had already returned home to Georgia.

Before Barrow went to Miami, the Hurricanes had eight players from their front seven jump into the transfer portal but Barrow did not heed that warning.

RECRUITING 2025 DL Brad Fitzgibbon felt genuineness from MSU staff on official visit

"No smoke and mirrors like other places I've visited, it was genuine."

2025 defensive lineman Brad Fitzgibbon, who just listed the Spartans in his top three, goes in-depth on his official visit to East Lansing from this past weekend:

FOOTBALL What it's like attending the Spartan Football Fan Camp

I attended the Spartan Football Fan Camp on Wednesday.

Here's what happened and what the fan camp entails along with my takeaways:

FOOTBALL I Enjoyed the Tour of the Izzo Football Building, Yesterday.

The staff did a great job of hosting over 50 of us on the tour. The facilities were top of the line. The best parts were the presentations by the staff in all the areas of the building. Recruit area, Nutrition, Strength and Conditioning with McDonald, Practice facilities, and Video room. The presentation by the three GA's in Offense, Defense and Special Teams was anther highlight.
I found it interesting that the nutrition staff does a sweat analysis of every player several times a season. They are able to measure what nutrients are being expended and match the use with food and supplements to replenish the players. The meals and matching needs and the various game day meals and feeding was also great information.
