Michigan State Athletics has received a $1.15 million commitment from Mike Williams in support of women's soccer, wrestling, and gymnastics, and other sports achieving competitive excellence. Williams' contribution is his second seven-figure donation in under two years. His previous gift, in early 2022, supported 10 varsity sports. With this latest commitment, Williams becomes the newest Victory Circle member of The Athlos Society – MSU Athletics' leadership giving society.
Mike Williams: "This gift is focused on teams that have recently succeeded in becoming Big Ten champions or are on the upward trajectory. My hope is that they can keep momentum and continue to pursue excellence by providing these teams funds for travel, equipment, or other needs.
"I have such an appreciation for these young athletes who are working hard every day but may not get the same recognition as other high-profile sports. My experience has been so positive with the university, and I truly appreciate all the ways the coaches and players have reached out to say thank you. It makes you realize that, as a donor, you're truly making a difference."
