Last year it seemed that MSU was focused on increasing its national recruiting footprint, and kind of broke through, nabbing 10 players - half our class - from outside the B1G region (TXx3, VA, FL, UT, AZx2, CA, KY). In contrast, the 2016 class doesn't have a single player from outside the B1G region.
Any thoughts on why the apparent change of strategy? Or was it simply a situation that we were in on a large number of high-quality local recruits? Remember that quite a few of the 2015 "national" guys (Lewerke, Butler, Davis, Higby, Gaines) were among our early commits, all verballing before the season started.
Disclaimer: I'm very happy with all the guys we've gotten so far, just curious as to why we seem to have cooled on the national recruiting. Also, since I know somebody will comment, I'm not insinuating that national recruiting is in any way better.
