Watching the standards and expectations being set by Coach Tucker for our football program is rather amazing and unprecedented. Frankly it has only ever really been attempted by Coach Izzo in basketball at MSU, and then only to a certain degree. We certainly seem to have the right leadership, alumni and head coach leading our football program in this new world of college athletics we find ourselves in, whether you like the direction that world is taking us or not.

You can pine for the good ole days and forever be stay stuck in the past. Stay rooted in a place where you can be satisfied with modest winning and occasional significant success all the while being able to feel your school, while not able to truly compete with the best of the best, also doesn’t do all that is required to consistently participate at the highest levels year in and year out. Comforted by convincing yourself that we are somehow better than them and all their championships because we don’t do this or that.

If that sounds like you, you might want to start finding a new program to support as it appears, for now at least, that Michigan State University, it’s most important alumni and it’s leadership have decided they want to compete for it all.

I for one say do whatever you can, large or small, to help make our institution’s and Coach Tucker’s vision of playing for and winning National Championships here at MSU a reality. You aren’t invited to join these elite clubs you just have to decide you aren’t going to be kept out of them any longer.
