This is a different type discussion - (not what is the right thing to do and certainly not political. Just straight up economics. Please just respond with which way is better economicaly.

Jan 30th first postitvie test in Italy. Feb 21st first lockdown of town. March 8th expanded to northen Italy. March 9th all of Italy. Isn't their economy screwed either way (by locking down or not locking down). If they were not in lock down right now would their economy be better?

I know many will think I am being a smart ass...I am not. Just got the email from Orange Beach AL Senior Center - they are open for bridge club this Wednesday (about 200 very old people play bridge there each week (my mom has been a staple for years). I don't think Gulf Shores or Orange Beach want to close anything because it will hurt tourism. Won't tourism be hurt worse by not closing down now? Economically (not talking deaths or right thing to do) what is better (both short and long term)? Not close anything now, or shut everythng down now. thoughts?
