Notre Dame's Marcus Freeman makes history tonight, win or lose, on MLK Day, in MLK's hometown, 3.2 miles from MLK's church.

You won't hear this in the broadcast, but everything in college football integration traces back to Duffy Daugherty. He provided
opportunities with the first fully integrated rosters had hired Jimmy Raye and Sherman Lewis as coaches. They were influential
clearing paths for future Black coaches, although they were denied an opportunity as a head coach.

It's a proud history to celebrate, but the national media to this day fails to understand it. Our own campus doesn't fully grasp Duffy's leadership.
