My how things have changed!
We are 4-0 and dissatisfied (not totally satisfied) with our product.
BUT............we've successfully transitioned from Langford/Lippett/ Fowler/ Dennard/ Waynes et al to the 2015 version of Spartan football.
We start the season with a new stable of running backs, wide outs, and cornerbacks. But here's what has happened....
1. Burbridge is living up to his HS reputation. Aaron is now double teamed, opening up situations for Kings and Shelton (who are not exactly rookies.)
2. London, Scott, and Holmes are a more than capable replacement for Jeremy. There are no running back questions.
3.We've gone through a non-conference schedule that has helped develop younger players (albeit due to injuries in some cases) and at least have one of the best qb's in the nation....unlike 2013 early through game 4 of that season.
4. AND I think the defense showed significant improvement in the 2nd half of the CMU game.
Game 5 is arriving, it will be October, and I think this team is going to blossom as it did starting with game 5 in 2013.
I have always said that each year, we witness 18-23 year olds playing a game they love. They disappear after 4 or 5 years, only to be replaced by new 18-23 year olds. With the coaching staff we have, however... these young men have never stopped improving as October and November arrive. This year is no exception.
