I have not been following all the events of today closely, but there seems to be a lot of chatter about expanding the NCAA Tournament to 72 or 76 teams. One of the odd ringleaders today seems to be Seth Daivs:
This is the first time that I can remember a prominent (and I thought, intelligent) member of the media advocating for expansion.
I think that I have been clear and consistent in my opinion that Tournament expansion is a mind-numbingly stupid idea. I am honestly disappointed in Seth for advocating for this.
He is through words around like "data" and "facts," so I feel like I need to enter the fray a bit with real data and facts, but that might not happen today.
If there were going to somehow put more mid-majors in the tournament, I might be OK with it. Instead, they will probably just put in more P4 teams that can't finish over .500 in conference play. That's just stupid.
