A lot of people wonder when Lukusa started turning from blue to green. It was a process. About this time last year is when Lukusa really started to show serious interest in Michigan State. Last April at the GR Storm Tournament is when I sensed that he was leaning stronger toward Michigan State than Michigan.
Here is the quote that stood out to me from his coach.
"They didn't win him over with one day, I can guarantee you that," Wooer said. "It was a long process and they there from the start with Mike Tressel, Coach Dantonio, and Coach Staten. They stayed the course, and they were truthful, honest, and caring. That paid dividends for Thiyo in the end.
"I think there is a difference between what your childhood dream is and what you see on a daily basis. That is not to take anything away from Michigan. Mark Dantonio recruited Thiyo heavily. He was in our school this spring. I think Thiyo felt strongly about the family aspect of the Michigan State program. I think there was a deep trust and a love that he could just feel."
