Stewart-Barnett and Morlock Named Big Ten Outdoor Track & Field Athletes to Watch​

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State track & field athletes Kate Stewart-Barnett and Dillon Morlock were named Big Ten Outdoor Track & Field Athletes to watch, as announced by the conference on Thursday.

A native of New Westminster, B.C., Stewart-Barnett has been a key member of both the Michigan State cross country and track & field teams. At the Big Ten Indoor Championships, she finished third in the mile with a time of 4:40.30. She also was part of the distance medley relay team that took second place (11:00.04).

Stewart-Barnett set new PRs in the mile and the 1500 at the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston in February.

Morlock, a native of Creston, Ohio, had an outstanding freshman indoor campaign. He finished fifth in the shot put at the Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Championships in Indianapolis. He set a new personal best with a throw of 18.92m. He also set a season best in the weight throw at the Simmons-Harvey Invitational with a heave of 16.20m.

The Spartans are back in action at the USF Alumni Invitational March 21-22 in Tampa, Florida.




Spartan Track & Field Opens Outdoor Season Friday at USF Alumni Invitational​

RALEIGH, N.C. - After a successful indoor track and field season, the Spartans are heading to Tampa, Florida, for the USF Alumni Invitational. The meet will be held from March 21-22, 2025, and the Spartans will be taking 35 athletes to compete in events on both days.

Action will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, with the javelin throw, featuring Sean Mullen and Dylan Terryberry, and will wrap up around 6:40 p.m. with the 200-meter dash. Notably, Cameron Cheetam will compete in the 200-meter dash, aiming to set another personal best after running a 21.49 at the Big Ten Indoor Championships.

For the women's team, action will begin at 2:00 p.m. with the long jump. Shortly after, at 3:00 p.m. weight throw school record holder Elle Adrian will take on the hammer throw. This will be Adrian's first meet back after her performance at the NCAA DI Indoor Championships. Friday action for the women will end with the 200-meter dash at 6:40 p.m.

The second day of action begins at 11 a.m., with Brady Schultz chasing a personal best in the high jump after clearing 2.10 meters at the Big Ten Indoor Championships. At 1:40 p.m., Logan Allen will take the track in the 110-meter hurdles. This will be his first race back since he placed sixth in the Big Ten Indoor Championships. The final day of action for the Spartans will conclude with the men's and women's 100-meter dash finals, starting at 2:30 p.m. Big Ten Athlete to Watch Dillon Morlock will also be in action.
